Theatre Trip

Back from The Grand Theatre after seeing Waiting for God by Michael Aitkens who wrote the original TV series. The residents of the Bayview Retirement Home are still doing battle against the obnoxious manager Harvey Bains lead by the one and only Diane Trent played by Nichola McAuliffe and her co conspirator Tom Ballard played by Geoffrey Holland. When I booked earlier in the year Roy Hudd was billed in that part but had to pull out due to ill health and as he is one of my comedy heroes I was disappointed when I heard of the change.

But Geoffrey Holland is great in the part in fact I thought that his Tom Ballard was very close in some ways to Graham Crowden who created the role on TV.
